MRI Technician

MRI Supervisor
Position Objective:
The MRI Technician interprets doctor's requisition requests and completes
the study as efficiently and quickly as possible for patient comfort and
ease during the MRI process.
This is a part- time position (10-29 hours a week) including late
weekday evenings and Saturday's.
Detailed Responsibilities:

Escort patient back to the changing rooms, give gown or shorts as
necessary and verify that all metal has been removed (i.e. body
piercing, clothing with metal, etc.)

Question the patient as to any metal in the body, pacemakers, stents,
cochlear implants and eye clear of metal.

Set MRI machine with proper coils for the body part to be scanned.

Make sure the patient is comfortable, offer blanket, place call button
in patient's hand so that they are able to call immediately if they are
not feeling well, claustrophobic, etc. Give headphones and see what
music the patient prefers or earplugs if the patient prefers.

Ensure MRI door is closed and return to MRI computer to scan the
patient.

Scan patient using protocols previously set up and keep in touch with
radiologist for any questions that may arise before, during or while
scanning.

Occasionally assist radiologist when performing Arthrograms.

Maintain proper disposal of sharps.

Escort patient from MRI machines back to dressing room.

Organizational responsibilities: maintain all supplies for MRI
including but not limited to: gowns, shorts, medications to be
administered, relating tubing, trays and supplies for Arthrograms,
medications in crash cart, etc.

Prioritize work to complete assignments in a timely manner.

Maintain records of receipts and invoices.

Respond promptly to emergency calls.

Ability to work independently and make decisions.
Physical/Mental Demands:
High levels of mental concentration are required. Ability to lift and place
all MRI coils on MRI table. Must handle multiple tasks simultaneously and
subject to interruptions. Physical effort requires sitting for long periods
of time, walking to assist patient and reaching with hands and arms. Manual
dexterity, visual acuity, and the ability to speak and hear are required.
